Heading into Week 3, Commander has become a fun offense for fantasy managers. There are several players worth considering as waiverwire options, including Carson Wentz, Curtis Samuel, and Logan Thomas.
Let’s start with Wentz (68% roster in the CBS Sports League). He averages 34.0 Fantasy Points per game. He scored his 35 fantasy points in Week 1 against Jacksonville, and in Week 2 against Detroit he scored 33 points.
Wentz will have a tough test against Philadelphia in Week 3, and it won’t be easy against Dallas in Week 4. But even when garbage time comes, Wentz hopes that he can rely on his weapons to produce.
With Dak Prescott (thumb) still out and Trey Lance (ankle) out this season, Wentz will play an important role as a borderline starter in all leagues. He’s worth adding up to 10% of his FAB remaining.
Antonio Gibson is Washington’s main backfield option for now, but two running backs, Bryan Robinson Jr. (63%) and JD McKissick (38%), may be able to add waivers. Robinson could emerge as a potential starter in most leagues if he is healthy.
He’s still out until at least Week 5 after being placed on the reserve/non-football injury list, but continues to regain health after being shot in an attempted robbery in late August. By accounts, he was expected to play a key role when he returned and was expected to be Commander’s top running back this year.
Robinson should be added now, especially if you have an IR spot. He’s worth up to 10% of his FAB remaining.
As for McKissic, 5-10% of the remaining FAB is worth adding to all PPR leagues. He just had seven catches for 54 yards on seven targets in Week 2 in Detroit. 12 PPR points is something that can be achieved on a weekly basis, especially if the Commander is chasing points.
Terry McLaughlin and Jahan Dotson are registered in the majority of leagues, but we can see Dodson (79%) available in a 10-team format. These should be Wentz’s top two receivers, but Samuel was very popular as a quarterback in his first two games.
Samuel (59%) had 20 goals before the season opened, converting that to 15 catches for 133 yards and two touchdowns. He also has five carries for 38 yards. I’m skeptical Samuel can keep this up given his injury history, but it’s worth adding to all his PPR leagues to get up to 15% of his FAB remaining. If this continues, he will be a must-have pick in every format.
Thomas (41%) should be considered the No. 1 fantasy tight end on the low end for now. In two games, he has 11 targets for 6 catches, 82 yards and a touchdown, and hopes he can replicate the 2020 campaign that was a fantasy option starter in every league. Worth his 10-15% of the rest of his FAB.
We’ll take a look at the manager’s performance against the Eagles in Week 3. But based on his first two weeks of the season, the player is worth investing in as a quality fantasy choice and as a potential starter in most leagues.

Week 3 Waiver
- Injuries: Trey Lance (ankle), Dak Prescott (thumb), Zack Wilson (knee)
- Check availability. Tua Tagovailoa (80% Enrollment), Dak Prescott (79%), Carson Wentz (68%). Tagovailoa was the star of Week 2 in Baltimore with 469 passing yards, 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in which he scored 50 fantasy points. He’s got a great arsenal in his Tyreek Hill and his Jaylen Waddle, and the new coach he seems to be doing well with Mike McDaniel. Week 3 with Buffalo is a tough test, but Tagovailoa are a worthy addition in every league. In favorable matchups, Tagovailoa is considered the number 1 fantasy passer. … might be a good idea if you have an open roster spot and want to keep Prescott hidden. He could return in Week 4 and could still play as his quarterback in the top 10 fantasy this season. … see above for Wentz averaging 34.0 fantasy points per game to open the season.
- Drop candidate: Matt Ryan (75% roster). I don’t want to judge Ryan at his worst like he did in Week 2 in Jacksonville when Michael Pittman (Quad) and Alec Pierce (Concussion) were sidelined. If Fantasy managers should avoid him, he scored 1 Fantasy point for 195 passing yards, no touchdowns and 3 interceptions against the Jaguars.

running backs
- Injuries: Alvin Kamara (rib), James Connor (ankle), JK Dobbins (knee), Elijah Mitchell (knee), Bryan Robinson (knee), Dontrell Hilliard (hamstring), Tyrion Davis-Pryce (ankle), Damian Williams (rib) Brandon • Bowden (hamstring).
- Check availability. Nyheim Hines (82% of the roster), Isiah Pacheco (74%), Alexander Mattison (73%) and Jamaal Williams (68%). Hines is required to enroll in all his PPR leagues and in two games he has recorded 10 catches for 87 yards on 11 targets. If the Colts receiving force continues to deal with injuries, look for Hines to see a surge in reception… Mattison, Pacheco, and Williams are all lottery tickets, just looking for hidden contenders. If there is, how to rank it in the rest of the season. But Williams is worth alone given his role with the Lions, with 23 carries in two games alongside Dandre Swift.
- Drop candidate: Elijah Mitchell (72%), Rex Burkhead (48%), Kenyan Drake (44%). Mitchell said he was given a two-month timetable for a knee injury he sustained in Week 1. …Burkhead played 71% of the Texans’ snap in Week 1 against the Colts, and in Denver in Week 2 he played 37%, with Dameon his Pierce playing a bigger role. I was. We expect that to be the norm going forward, and Burkhead deserves to be kept hidden as Pierce’s handcuffs in deeper leagues…. Drake is two games without his Dobbins and he’s five. Earned PPR points. And now Dobbins could be back as early as Week 3. There is no reason to register Drake in any league.

wide receiver
- Injury: Jerry Judy (ribs), Michael Pittman (quads), Gabe Davis (ankles), Keenan Allen (hamstrings), Chris Godwin (hamstrings), Hunter Renfro (concussion), Michael Gallup (knee), Devin DuVernay (concussion), Mecole Hardman (ankle), Londale Moore (hamstring), Alec Pearce (concussion), Wandale Robinson (knee), Van Jefferson (knee)
- Check availability. Jahan Dotson (79% roster) and Chris Olave (76%).Dotson may be overshadowed by Curtis Samuel and Terry McLoughlin is not gone. But Dotson has scored three touchdowns in the first two In an NFL game, he should continue to improve as the season progresses. He should be registered in all leagues. …Olive had 13 targets in Week 2 against Tampa Bay. He could only catch five in his 80 yards, but Jameis likes that Winston is already looking for Olave this far. With the big game probably in Carolina in week 3, Olive should be registered in all leagues.
- Drop candidate: Robert Woods (74%), George Pickens (73%), Marvin Jones (54%), Kadarius Tony (53%), Devante Parker (51%). Woods has seven targets in his two games for 52 yards and he has five catches. There is no reason to register him in most formats now. … Pickens may need injuries to Dionte Johnson or Chase Claypool to start production. In two games, Pickens has only two catches for 26 yards and no touchdowns on six targets. Christian Kirk is the lead receiver for the Jaguars, and Zay Jones and Evan Engram feel like they’re ahead of Marvin Jones right now. … Tony hopes to start producing soon, but the Giants don’t seem to want to trust him.Throughout two games, he caught twice for no yards on three targets. … Parker has only 4 targets in 2 games and he has 1 catch for 9 yards. He’s not someone most leagues need to keep hidden.
Week 3 exemption priority list
- Notable Injuries: George Kittle (groin), Dalton Schultz (knee), Brevin Jordan (ankle)
- Check availability. Gerald Everett (76% on the roster) and Tyler Higby (71%). Everett emerged as a mandatory fantasy tight end, especially with Keenan Allen banging. Through two games, he has scored his nine catches for his 125 yards and touchdowns on his 14 targets, averaging 13.5 PPR points per game. Everett is the number one tight end to add if possible. … Higbee is the go-to option for Matthew Stafford, and that should continue unless the Rams have a reliable No. 3 receiver behind the Cooper Cup and Allen Robinson. has 20 targets, 12 catches for 110 yards, and is averaging 11.0 PPR points per game. Higbee will be a second tight end to add if available behind Everett.
- Drop candidate: Cole Koumet (67% Enrollment), David Jok (44%), Hunter Henry (44%). I had high hopes for Kmet this season. But now, if he hasn’t caught his two targets in his two games, it’s hard to justify leaving him on the fantasy roster. … Njoku showed signs of life against the Jets in Week 2 with 3 catches and his 5 targets for 32 yards, but that’s just his 6 targets this season . I expected him to be more involved, but that hasn’t happened yet. For now, you can move on to a more productive person. …Henry heats up quickly and the end he may start finding the zone, but his targets this season are his two catches and his 20 yards and he only has four. That kind of production is useless, so it’s easy to drop him in most leagues.Add in the following order:
- Chief of IND (21% on roster)
- Chargers (67% registered) vs JAC
- NYG Cowboy (59% Enrollment)
- Robbie Gould (43% of roster) at DEN
- IND’s Matt Amendola (21 percent on the roster)
- Will Lutz in CAR (24% of roster)
