From now until October 2nd is the annual ArtPrize Grand Rapids.
Public parks, restaurants, theaters, hotels, bridges and even body shops in the Grand Rapids area are transformed into art galleries showcasing the world’s greatest works of art.
ArtPrize hosts daily events and happenings, from concerts and dance parties to festivals and family art-making.
Well worth the drive to Grand Rapids.
Brass Quintet and Red Cedar Organ

On Tuesday, the rich sound of MSU’s new Red Cedar Organ merges with brass to play the music of the American composer.
It will be held on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm at the MSU Alumni Memorial Chapel on the campus of Michigan State University.Doors open at 7pm

Lansing’s Riverwalk Theater

Lansing’s Riverwalk Theater’s Black Box Stage presents Bells, Books and Candles this Thursday.
The play is about a modern-day witch who likes her neighbor but despises her fiancée, enchanting him to love her instead.
It’s a fantasy romantic comedy that runs through October 2nd on the Riverwalk.
Capital Afrofest
September 23rd (Friday) to September 24th (Saturday)

This Friday and Saturday is Capital AfroFest at 221 Washington Square in downtown Lansing.
Live performances, fashion shows, street vendors and plenty of activities for the whole family.
According to organizers, the two-day event will serve as a bridge between African communities and other communities through cultural activities.

The stage concert tells the story of British novelist Emily Brontë as she writes her beloved troubled love story, Wuthering Heights.
The new musical, in development, features MSU drama students and Broadway actors, including Jonathan Christopher, known from the hit Broadway show Hamilton.

Also on Friday, Broadway actor Brian Stokes Mitchell will open Wharton’s 40 at the Wharton Center.th anniversary season.
Brian Stokes Mitchell is a two-time Tony Award winner with a Broadway, television, film and concert career spanning 40 years.
He won a Tony Award, a Drama Desk Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Award for his star turn in Kiss Me, Kate.
He was also nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in Man of La ManchaAugust Wilson King Hedley II When ragtime Recently inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame.
